The Lakes community will include 30 distinct neighborhoods with housing ranging from the first time home buyer to the empty nesters or early retirement.
Parkway & Boulevard Bridges
A civic park and beach area will be located on the north end of the main lake, which will include areas for restaurants, convenience retailers, such as daycares and personal services, offering a great place for you to meet your new neighbors, shop and work. It also has the potential of including concession facilities for boats, canoes, paddle boats and kayak rentals as well as a warming house for winter skating and skiing activities.
An extensive trail system includes approximately 15 miles of pedestrian paths, 4 miles of bike paths and 2 miles of regional trails. Paths and waterways connect the neighborhoods to one another and to the entire open space systems.

Through intense landscaping, the parkways and boulevards create ”green corridors”. Each parkway or boulevard will have its own planting theme to help orient you with the neighborhoods, while the bridges and channels still provide beautiful views of the lakes and waterways.
The topography of the land and the existing trees both lend to the overall ambience and amenities of The Lakes community. Existing oak woodlands will be preserved to the greatest extent possible and topography will be enhanced with man made lakes and berming in key locations.
Indiginous Wildlife
In all, The Lakes community will occupy 1,080 acres. Located in the rapidly developing suburb of Blaine, approximately 15-25 minutes north of Minneapolis. The Lakes community is within school district 16.
Local attractions include The Arnold Palmer PGA and Tournament Players Golf Course which is immediately west of The Lakes community. Approximately 5 miles to the south west of the community is the newly opened Target Superstore located on the corner of Highway 65 at 109th Avenue. The National Sports Center located approximately 4 1/2 miles south west, has many activities through out the year including the World Cup Soccer competition, outdoor sports shows, craft sales, etc.
